Cell Phone Manufacturers

Choosing your cell phone manufacturer can be a daunting task when looking for differences

It’s always difficult to choose one phone brand over the other unless one has substantially different functionality than the other. Some people choose because of loyalty or because they found that particular brand hassle free in the past.

What is interesting is the race to bring out the latest and greatest amongst them all. Nobody wants to fall behind the competitors and this point relates more to cell phone manufacturers.

No matter if you are a loyal customer or not you should always keep your options open. If you rely on your cellular phone for business you may want to keep up to date with the technical changes such as satellite phone or GPS. Many people do not change their brand of phone because their local cell phone carrier may not stock many other options when they are upgrading or signing new clients on for their free cell phone pack, they too could be loyal to just a few manufacturers.

What if I choose the prepaid phone?

You may find your options limited with manufacturers of prepaid cell phones. Some of the GSM phones can be used as a prepaid but others cannot (check this out before you purchase). With this type of phone you can expect to pay more per call but you can buy more airtime and save a little by doing so.

SMS text can vary dramatically in cost from one carrier to another. Many offer you a bulk SMS package allowing you to save a few dollars.  If you go down the road of the prepaid phone make sure you use your credit within the stated time allowed otherwise it will be lost even if you have plenty of credit left.

Buying credit

Credit can be purchased by calling the free phone number provided (it should be free phone, otherwise go elsewhere, it’s the least they can offer you). Credit card or cheque is the method of payment or simply down to your local store and get a top up for cash.

Make sure you are not taken in by al the special offers. You should have a clear monthly budget set if you’re going for a prepaid option.

To help you decide you should look at cell phone plans.

Carriers and Manufacturers

Most people know what brand of cell phone they are going to get before they know the carrier. The carrier should be the harder decision of the two. Some of the better know carriers are AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless, Cingular, ALLTEL, Nextel, Sprint PCS to name but a few. All generally offer good packages but make sure you do your cell phone comparisons.

I’m sure you already know the main cell phone manufacturers by now but if not her is a list of the main players, Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Motorola, LG, Sanyo, Siemens, Panasonic, NEC.

Below are merchant links. By clinking on these you will be opened to a fascinating world of on-line cell phone shopping. We highly recommend them for both service and price.
